Panquitch Lake and Bryce Canyon

For spring break this year we decided to go up to Panquitch Lake...  Little did we know it was still WINTER up there!  I forgot all of our snow pants, boots, gloves and hats....so the kids just played in the snow in thier pants and shoes.... we had to dry them over and over again.. but they still had lots of fun sledding and playing in the snow!!  I think the helmet on #5 is hilarious!!  #3 and #4 got her dressed for this occasion!!  She looks well protected!!

 We have never been to Bryce Canyon, so we decided to take a day and go see the sites!  It is quite remarkable!  I really wanted to go horseback riding on one of the trails-- but kids under 7 arent allowed to ride!  Bummer!!  We were going to split up... but it didn't fit our schedule .... darn...maybe next time!  But the many trails and hikes were really fun!  The views up there are amazing!!  We had a great time!

 Back at the cabin... the kids rode the four wheelers and motorcycles in the mud.... It was so wet and muddy!  But fun to ride in!!!

 We went down to the lake which was in the process of thawing for the season, the edges were all melting and the ice was looking thin in a lot of places.  I have this great fear of people falling through ice and drowning... so all of my kids were forbidden to walk out onto the lake.  #2 was REALLY trying to get me to let him walk on it....he was throwing rocks onto it trying to prove to me that it was still frozen.... Really? A five pound rock compared to his 84lbs is not something that I wanted to experiment with!!!  There were tons of spots where the ice was melted and the water was sloshing about.... I wasn't about to let him go for a stroll on this partially frozen lake just for kicks!  So he was mad at me while we were at the lake!:-( But he is still alive!!!

 We finally got to go fishing on the last day!  The boys were dying to go ice fishing... but that wasn't going to happen on the melting ice-  so we found an outlet where they could fish! We didn't catch a thing! DARN!!  

 Poor doggy- had to stay tied up at the car! 

 We saw a bunch of wild turkeys!!  We chased them, and they ran pretty fast!  Crazy!!!

 The boys got to shoot thier guns!!!  OOOHH AHHH- WE ARE MEN with our big GUNS!!!  GRRRRR!!!

Fun Times!!;-) The trip was really fun!! My favorite part was the wonderful smell of the pine trees, the beautiful scenery and the stop at Taipan on the way home!!!  Everyone had a great weekend!!

Sleeping Princess!!

Our sweet little #5 is ALWAYS wanting to wear pretty dresses and fancy shoes!!!  She has at least two dresses on at the same time in this picture.  Often she will have on a couple fluffy skirts underneath her couple of dresses! I guess she thinks the more fluff -- the better!!   She will also walk around holding her blanket on her head while it dangles down her back as her LONG HAIR.  She walks around like that for hours.... you would think her arm would get tired!!! Then she twirls and dances and does her 'pretty walk'-  it is really funny!!!  She is at that stage where she still needs a nap, but if I put her down, she won't go to sleep at night time.  So she often falls asleep wherever she lands!!

Comfort Seekers and Tin Foil Dinners!!

I always tease Shane because whatever he is doing.... he has to make it COMFORTABLE!!!  So, the other day, he was washing dishes (I should just be grateful for that alone...not many husbands will do that... with a smile too!) Anyway, he is so tall, that he has to bend down to reach the sink and he says it hurts his back!  So he decided to pull up a chair and to make himself comfortable!! What really made it funny was the fact that he opened the cubboards so that he could stick his legs underneath the sink!  That's a whole lot of effort for some dirty dishes!!!  I just had to make fun of him a little for it! 

My Boys just love TIN FOIL DINNERS..... so they have been making them themselves in the fire pit in the back yard!!!  AHHHH!!! Fire and Food..... it doesn't get any better than that for a teenage boy!!!

#2 is the PYRO of the family....

Practice Makes Perfect!!

Number 3 has been playing the violin with a new teacher this year!  She is really enjoying it and is getting better all of the time!!  It has been fun to watch her play and grow!!!
